Jack Shainman’s The School, Kinderhook

Jack Shainman recently opened The School, a gallery with 30,000 square feet of exhibition space, located in Kinderhook, New York, a short drive from Albany. This is a must-see for students, even if only for Antonio Jimenez Torrecilla’s masterful architectural transformation. If you’re lucky, you may get to see one of Nick Cave’s fantastical suits, or his installation, Made by Whites for Whites. This installation, in spite of its hard-hitting title, is a large floor-ensemble of moulds for die-casting that house symbolic and evocative objects with lyrical color, evocative tactility, and surprising gestalts.

Saturdays, 11 a.m.—5 p.m.

25 Broad Street, Kinderhook, NY.
